Nurses work thanklessly to save lives and provide comfort and care to patients. Often logging long hours, they sacrifice the comforts of family and friends to serve us. Let's praise our nurses. How does it work?

Readers nominate nurses who've made a difference to them by submitting a photo of the nurse and a brief essay explaining why this nurse was nominated. After the nomination period, all nominees will appear in an online gallery and readers may vote once per day to pick their favorite nurse. A profile of the winning nurse will be published during National Nurses Week (May 6-12.)
